Dr. Whitman holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from Princeton University where he studied general relativity and taught the freshman calculus course for honors engineering students. After Princeton, he worked as a quantitative finance executive. He then returned to academia to do neuroscience research, creating mathematical models of neurons firing in the brain. Dr. Whitman is also a homeschooling father of five, a math competition coach, and a counselor and faculty member at the prestigious Epsilon Math Camp (for America’s top young math students). Dr. Whitman's students have been named to the American Mathematics Competition Honor Roll, the Putnam Exam's Announcement of Winners, and National Merit Finalists.
